Ben Roidl-Ward (bassoon) & Timothy McCormack (augmented bass drum)

This concert marks the initiation of a new collaboration between bassoonist Ben Roidl-Ward and composer Timothy McCormack (who is also a bassoonist). Roidl-Ward's visit to UCSD is twofold: the composer and bassoonists record McCormack's 2015 solo "BODY MATTER," and workshop materials for a new composition, commissioned by Roidl-Ward, for bassoon and string quartet (with the JACK Quartet). This concert is intended as a modest offering to the community amongst these aforementioned, less public activities.

Ben Roidl-Ward is the bassoonist of Ensemble Dal Niente, principal bassoonist of the Chicago Sinfonietta and the Illinois Symphony, and Co-Principal Bassoonist of Sinfonia Da Camera. He serves as Assistant Professor of Bassoon at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and as a Bassoon Coach for the Lucerne Festival Academy.
