Blacktronika : Afrofuturism in Electronic Music is a movement and course dedicated to honoring and illuminating innovators of color who have played a pivotal role in the evolution of electronic music.  The pedagogy centers the foundational Black and Latino roots of Chicago House, Detroit Techno, Disco, Drum & Bass, Dub, Hip Hop and beyond.

As an extension of the course, the Blacktronika campus series of events, transforms the music department’s Experimental Theater into a club environment and safe space for everyone to dance and experience this music on a proper sound system.  Movement and community is always a powerful combination.
