The UC San Diego Wind Ensemble presents an eclectic and vibrant evening of music under the direction of Pierre Long-Tao Tang, featuring our very own faculty member, tenor Miguel Zazueta. The program spans contemplative lyricism, cultural storytelling, and cinematic spectacle—from the rhythmic energy of Reena Esmail’s Tuttarana and the classic brilliance of John Philip Sousa, to evocative contemporary works by Josh Rodriguez and Itaru Sakai. The concert culminates with the profound spirituality of David Maslanka’s Hosannas and the thrilling humor of Eric Whitacre’s Godzilla Eats Las Vegas!.
