Blacktronika & Future Is Color present
Luv’ Dancing

A celebration of Blacktronika’s 5th anniversary through movement and sound!

Blacktronika: Afrofuturism in Electronic Music is a course created and taught by Professor King Britt, honoring the often-overlooked innovators of color who have profoundly shaped global dance music culture. From Jamaican Dub and Philadelphia Disco to Chicago House, Detroit Techno, and UK Drum & Bass, these sonic movements emerged from a deep love and a necessity for liberation and freedom of expression. The dance floor, and the sound system, have long served as sanctuaries, offering space for joy, healing, and connection beyond judgment.

The Blacktronika dance nights are a natural extension of the course—open to students and the wider community—inviting participants to experience this music in a proper sonic environment. These gatherings are more than parties; they are living archives, spaces of celebration where bodies, histories, and futures converge.

Music will be provided of course by Professor King Britt, a veteran DJ and producer with over 35 years of contributions to electronic music culture worldwide who continues to tour and curate globally. Live percussion by Professor Daunte Fyall of the UC San Diego Theater and Dance Department will amplify the vibration. Visuals by Vizuelyze by the Marksmen.

This special event is held in collaboration with Future Is Color, vital community builders based in Barrio Logan whose mission centers on love, liberation, and inclusive cultural activation.

We ask that you come with open hearts and minds—ready to dance, commune, and uplift.
