Join us to celebrate the beauty of cultural diversity! Moon Viewing is a Japanese tradition that honors year-long efforts to grow rice and sustain cultural rituals. The concert day is planned for one of the biggest full-moon nights of 2025.

Kosuke Matsuda, an interdisciplinary musician, presents the Moon Viewing Concert featuring “Moon Viewing Music” by Peter Garland and “Kanade” by Masayuki Sakamoto. Garland’s piece uses five Thai gongs and one large tam-tam, creating a tonal harmony of pitched metal sounds that evokes meditative sound waves. Sakamoto’s Kanade is one of the few Japanese Okedo-Taiko solos, showcasing the unique sound of double-headed traditional drums while incorporating multicultural rhythmic inspirations such as samba and pop music.
