These Truths We Hold is a durational sound art installation that unfolds through speech, repetition, and the slow disintegration of sounds. Activated over a 5 hour extended period, the work uses the body as a site of endurance and disruption, engaging with the myths and fractures of national identity.

This is iteration 2 of multidisciplinary artist Matana Roberts’ We Hold These Truths (2021), a 50-speaker sound and multi-channel video installation originally conceived in the wake of the January 6th insurrection. Time becomes a central material, testing the limits of attention, voice, and memory.
