The UC San Diego Wind Ensemble performs diverse repertoire for woodwinds, brass, and percussion, and is comprised of undergraduate and graduate students, staff, and community members. The ensemble’s members participate in a number of musical activities within and beyond the Department of Music and boast a variety of academic majors across the arts, humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields.

This quarter’s concert demonstrates the ensemble’s flexibility with different performance formats and highlights the performers’ musicality and ability to shine in chamber ensemble settings. Tonight’s concert was fully prepared by the performers, from repertoire selection to rehearsals and performance. Selections for this evening’s concert range from reimaginings of classical repertoire to contemporary chamber works. From these small and diverse ensembles, you will encounter beautiful timbral combinations, tight harmonic blends,  and dynamic range that we hope will afford a rarely intimate listening experience for wind ensemble concert goers.
